Desktop App Guide

Aelrox team · Published Aug 10, 2026

Install Aelrox, sign in through the browser, and run micro apps safely.

The Aelrox desktop app runs micro apps safely and handles sign-in and open actions from the community. This guide is for everyday users and requires no development knowledge.

Download and install

  1. Get the installer from the official Aelrox download page.
  2. Run the installer and follow the operating-system prompts.
  3. Check for updates after first launch and use the latest stable version whenever possible.

Do not install Aelrox from chat attachments, file-sharing services, or websites you cannot verify.

App updates (Windows / macOS)

Versions that support in-app updates offer download and restart-to-install actions when an update is available. For releases that support differential downloads, the client reuses its local cache to reduce network traffic. An unavailable reusable cache or failed differential verification automatically uses the full download instead. Download size depends on the changes between releases.

A completed download does not mean installation is complete; follow the restart prompt. If an in-app update cannot finish, install the latest version from the official download page. Older macOS clients may still open the download page and need to be upgraded to a version that supports in-app updates first.

Sign in through your browser

The desktop app delegates authentication to your default browser:

  1. Select sign in in the desktop app.
  2. Your browser opens the Aelrox sign-in page.
  3. Verify the domain and account, then complete authentication.
  4. When prompted to return, allow the browser to open Aelrox.

If the browser does not return automatically, keep the sign-in page open, reopen the desktop app, and try again. Never share a verification code, recovery token, or password.

Open a micro app from the community

Select “Open in Aelrox” on a community detail page. The browser or operating system may ask for protocol confirmation the first time; verify that the destination is Aelrox.

The desktop app then shows the micro-app identity and any required permission prompts. Continue only when the permissions match the stated purpose.

Permission prompts

File, clipboard, network, screen, and microphone access may expose sensitive information. When prompted:

  • confirm the request is directly related to the app’s main purpose;
  • prefer the narrowest and shortest access available;
  • deny an unclear request—a micro app should not pressure you into unrelated access;
  • stop the app and report it if its behavior is unexpected.

See Micro-App Safety & Permissions for more guidance.

Updates and sign-out

  • Save current work before installing an update.
  • If an issue appears after updating, fully quit and restart Aelrox.
  • Sign out after using a shared device and close any running micro apps.
  • Revoke sessions for devices you no longer use from account security settings.

Troubleshooting

The browser does not open the desktop app

Confirm Aelrox is installed and has been launched at least once, then retry from the detail page. If the browser blocks external applications, allow this action only for the official Aelrox site.

The desktop app still shows signed out

Check that the system clock is accurate, fully quit the desktop app, and retry with the intended account in your browser.

A micro app does not start

Update Aelrox first, then check the network connection and permission prompts. Do not disable system security software to work around the issue.

The issue continues

Record the desktop version, operating system, time, steps, and an error screenshot, then follow Feedback & Issue Reports. Remove passwords, tokens, and private file content before submitting.

Aelrox help documents are updated alongside the product.
